HA!

Two weeks ago I was sitting in sharing time with my Sunbeams, as always, trying to keep them focused and calm. If you remember my post from a few months ago, I mentioned my desire to NOT become a Sunbeam teacher. I was selfishly afraid of how stressful it would be to deal with that age group. Anyway, back to my story...I was sitting in sharing time and the thought occurred to me "You know Morgan? You are really lucky to have a calling that you only have to really deal with 2 hours out of the week!" I always prepared my lesson during the week but nothing extravagant for 3 years old. So in that instance of recognition, I was very happy and satisfied with my calling.

Fast Forward about an hour and a half, Corky and I are leaving the church building and someone runs out after us "Whipples! Bishop wants to talk to both of you!" My first thought is that perhaps Corky is getting a new calling or another calling. We walk into the office and the bishop sits us down. We make small talk for a second and then he says "Sister Whipple, I would like to extend the calling of Primary President to you."

SAY WHAT???????

First thing I say in response is "Are you sure you prayed about that?"

Apparently he had. Wish me luck!

Wow, what a suprise! You'll do great! I must say though, that is one calling you'll have to take more then a couple hours a week at! ;)

They're going to throw you in there just in time for the sacrament program, eh!?

But, I totally know how you feel. After being in the YW presidency in my old ward, I was praying for an easy calling, preferably primary teacher. I was called to be 2nd counselor in the primary a few months ago. We didn't have a Sunbeam teacher called so the presidency had been taking turns teaching until the bishopric called someone. When I was preparing for my turn I kept thinking, "man how easy would life be if I were just the Sunbeam teacher instead of 2nd counselor" So yes, totally know what you mean!

Good luck, we made need to start swapping ideas :)

No luck needed! You already know what you're doing. That's obviously why you got the call :) Apparently there's a lot of kids that need a little Sis Whipple in their lives!

Now you have to deal with all of them...Not just the sunbeams. You will do great, and the Lord will bless you with the capacity to fulfill your calling in the way he deems necessary. Keep us updated.

I also love that your girls can be destructos to the house as mine can........sometimes I think, "why do I clean up? so you can pull everything out?" I'm sure my girls would look at me and say.......duh mommy! YOu are finally getting it!

You'll do great....I am glad its you and not me! I am the 1st counselor, so let me know if you need any sharing time ideas. We do ours a month at a time, so I have December next. Anyways...sugardoodle.net will give you tons of fun ideas. Just remember to always thank the teachers, always have a good sub list, and don't let it take over your real job as a MOM!

Wow!! Good for you!! My SIL has the same calling and she thinks that it is kind of hard, I think that she is just overwhelmed with being in charge of all the kids and teachers. Anyway I think that you will be great at it, congrats!

Primary President WOW!!! that will mean more than a few hours of prep time!!LOL I am sure you are doing an awesome job.

Yes I did love those books!! I am glad it ended the way it did, I am not a Jacob fan, but liked him more in the last book, anyway loved them!!

The kids do go to an English speaking Christian school, which has it's ups and downs. Last year Madison informed me that we were not Christian....we had to break the news that we were, and how to best explain it to her friends, she is all strait now!! They take Portuguese and so far Travis is the only one that can really speak it.
