Gracey has been saying for months that she wanted her hair to be shorter like mine, but I literally just brush it off. After I get a hair trim, she asks when she can get hers cut. I admit, I have ignored her. I have LOVED her long hair. I curl it nearly everyday and enjoy how beautiful it is. The other day though, I was helping Gracey wash her hair while she showered. Her hair is so thick that she really can't wash it on her own anymore. At that very moment, I came to terms with this haircut that I was denying would ever come. I asked her, "Gracey, do you still want to cut your hair?"
She replied (not surprisingly) with, "Uh huh!"
This wasn't an "uh huh" that is comparable to an "oh, sure". This was an enthusiastic "Heck YES!"
So the appointment is set. While we are there, we will take a few inches off of Emily's hair too. She has this natural curl through out her hair (she gets from me) that is more of an annoyance than it is a blessing. If left to dry on its own, it looks frizzy and uncombed. I am thinking a little hair cut for her will help control some of that!
Needless to say, both girls are pretty excited. I am excited too. I have had long hair before. Really, really long hair. I know having shorter hair for Gracey will be great for the warmer weather, lots of outdoor playing, and lots of swimming.
That is where all of her wave comes from.
All I am asking now is that there be no comments of "Don't do it!" or "You'll regret it!" Folks, she is 5 years old. It will grow back!

You are gonna LOVE the ease and convenience of doing their hair when it is shorter! I LOVE Lil's hair short, and it is so stylish... but she wants to grow it out again ::sigh::

I love Andrina's long beautiful hair too, I dread the day when she will want it cut! I am excited to see the change for your girls!
Is her hair long enough to donate? That might be a cool thing for her to do.
The day Liv cut her hair was one of my happiest. It is so pretty and I do sometimes miss it long, but the tangles! Her hair is thick and fine, so that equals many, many tangles no matter what I use on her hair. She was crying every day when I'd fix it. I can't wait to see cute Gracey with a new short do!
I would have totally done it while we were down there!! They will both love the change. Perfect timing for summer!
I miss Emmas hair longer, but man it's grown back so fast that I'm glad I did it when I did, almost a year ago, dont forget to donate it if its more then 8 inches, we did Em's then :)
Way to change things up. You are right...it will grow back. We seem to be in the grow it long, cut it off, grow it back phase with our girls. I can't wait to see the after pics!!
Go for it! Gracey got your great hair genes and it will be back in no time. She will look beautiful and so grown up with short hair. The pics of your girls are adorable.

Well you know how Pammie's was cut to her chin and she lost over a foot of hair in a couple of months' time. She was devastated because she likes her 'fancy' hair. But the first time she took a shower after that hair cut, she LOVED it! It is nice for them to be able to be more independent in their grooming just because it's more manageable. That being said, we have been watching and waiting for Pammie's to get back to the length it was. She has enjoyed having it short but she is also looking forward to it being long enough for a french braid again.
