Dinner conversation with Gracey

Since I have this rare hour of quiet time, I want to write about last night's dinner conversation with Gracey. It was so funny that I grabbed a notebook and started writing things down while the girls and I were in the middle of eating. (Corky was out of town. He has worked in Kansas the past 10 days) Gracey asked what I was writing and I totally lied by saying "a grocery list!"

Anyway, for dinner we had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, steamed broccoli, and salad on the side. Gracey asked, "Why do they call it GIRL Cheese?" I told her that it is actually grilled cheese.

After a few seconds of silence she said, "But the cheese isn't grilled, the bread is!"

(she is so my kid, I always question reasoning that I think may be totally dumb!)

I then told her that it is a "Cheese Sandwich" that is grilled.

I think she got it.

----------------------------------

The next point of conversation really caught me off guard. Fresh off of watching the movie "Home Alone 2," Gracey says,

"Mom, Big Horse's Ass is a bad word......unless you are talking to robbers!"

Oh dear.

So I try and stifle my laugh and tell her that we shouldn't say it to anybody. And if you ever meet robbers, you should run away. Not call them bad names!

I was absolutely dying inside!!

----------------------------------
All the while these talks are going on between Gracey and me, between bites, Emily is doing the helicopter with her pigtails!
----------------------------------
My girls gave me so many reasons to laugh last night!

I love times like that, especially when I am coherent enough to remember them. You've got to hang on to those little moments in motherhood...the comic relief!

Mmm I was eating a GIRL cheese while reading this. I need to be better at writing things down. Elsa said the funniest thing in the car yesterday I was dying of laughter, and now I can't remember it for the life of me.

I love the robber story! Though you are a far better mom than I am...I would have told her to go ahead and call the robber that! =)

Andrina calls it a girl cheese too.

I'm pretty sure that saying Big Horses Ars is appropriate in other situations then just robbers.. but way to cover. I should be like you and not the kind of Mom who calls my kids names like freak & pinhead...

I love it! I wish my kids would say funny things I can document but it usually is just rude or annoying!

Do you remember "Gorilla Cheese Sandwiches"? I think that was a Markie-ism!

Cute!!:) I don't think I've ever questioned why it's grilled cheese. What a smart thinker!

Looking forward to getting the fabric in the mail. I'm excited to see what you picked out. It takes me a few days to sew it up and then I send it your way.
