Last weekend was a really fun weekend. Busy, busy, busy, but way fun! We crammed a whole lot of stuff into it and I am just now finally able to blog about it.
Friday night my mom, sister, brother in law, brother, and grandma came into town. (My stepdad came the next morning to surprise us all!) They all had a relatively low-key weekend planned so they decided to spend it with us, celebrating Gracey's 4th birthday a little early.
The weekend started off with a bang. I ran my first ever race, that was actually longer than 200 Meters!! Kingman started doing an annual triathalon a few years ago and a couple of my friends and I decided a couple of months ago that we wanted to join in on the fun and do a relay. Our goal was to just finish.
Rachel used to be a competitive swimmer at the University of Utah, so that was a given what she would do.
I don't own a bike, the biking portion was out for me. Luckily Tamsen loves the bike.
All that was left for me to do was the run. Keep in mind, I have ZERO endurance, ZERO long-distance running skill (and yes, I consider 5K long distance), and I have NEVER run more than a mile at a time.
I was a little disappointed in the race. I had practiced the same course a few times, even running longer than the actual race distance, but I wanted to die during the race. I finished in the time that I wanted, but I wish it wouldn't have hurt so bad.
Anyway, I finished. We finished. We were the first place women's relay team. (I would feel guilty if I didn't add that there were only 2 women's relay teams!)
And here are some snapshots of the cute spectators and events.

That is AWESOME! Way to go, Morgan. I totally feel ya on the no endurance things. I ran for 10 minutes straight this morning and was so proud. My treadmill said I was running a 15 minute mile... people walk faster than that.
I'm so impressed that you did the triathalon (since you aren't a natural runner). It's inspiring.
yeaaa WTG, glad you guys were able to keep with it and now you can say "we did that when..."
Awesome job Morgan! 1st place is still 1st place so I'd brag about it! I think if I run again I want to do some relays, running with a team seems more fun then doing it
"for fun" by yourself!
Ohh...got it..Anyways funny pics! Way to go...ps I wouldn't have mentioned there were only 2 teams..:)
Good job, Morgan!!!
I giggled when you said you had run farther when you were getting ready for the race but during it had no endurance... that was exactly how I felt when I attempted my first 10K and turns out the next week I found out I was pregnant! ;)
Janna... that's about how fast I can run too. lol
Go Morgan!!! Oh, and I have to laugh at Riah's comment. uh oh. So maybe Annamarie and I should do next year's with you. We were supposed to do one together this year out on Boulder City but both chickened out. It'd be a good halfway point for us. But it involves swimming in Lake Mead, which is yuk. But we should all do one together next year. I'll swim. I don't run. Just like you. I really enjoyed my training though. I'm totally impressed.
