"I STILL HAVE 2 WEEKS LEFT!"

That is exactly what I said to the ultrasound technician when I was 37 weeks and 5 days along!  (I am now 39 weeks along!)

I drove to Wichita on January 26th to see the specialist and have another ultrasound.  They measured her to be 8 lbs. 1 oz.  I about choked on my own saliva!

I knew that she had a growth spurt at the beginning of my 3rd trimester, but I thought it had tapered off.

My doctor asked me the typical questions and told me all the things that they had checked me for that day had looked good.  His words were, "And obviously the in-utero growth is going well!"

This picture is of me that afternoon.  Thank goodness for self-timers.

At my ultrasound last week, we didn't measure her growth again since it was only a bio-physical appointment.  (checking breathing, movement, amniotic fluid)  I asked a technician that is also a good friend of ours if there was a margin of error with those ultra sound measurements.

Tech: "Oh yes, there is about a 15 oz. margin of error!"

Me: "Okay, then she is more like 7 lbs!"

Tech: "Or 9 lbs!"

Whoa!!  Way to make me feel better!

In all honesty, I don't think she will be a ginormous baby.  Of course I feel uncomfortable and certainly constricted, I just can't really fathom a human being inside of me being that big.  Maybe it is because I haven't had a baby in a long time, I don't know.  At the very most, my prediction is that she will be in the low 8 lbs.

We will see soon enough.

I do hate to mention it a little, but both my girls were low 7 lb babies, and my third pregnancy was a 9 pounder... Love ya! You look great!

When I was 37w6d with my twins the tech measured Ethan at 7 lbs 5 Oz and Anna at 5 lbs 5 Oz. because there was a two lb difference in their weight he set me up for an induction the nextmorning. They were both way off. Ethan was a while pound lighter. And Anna was 9 Oz heavier than they estimated. Good luck.

Can't wait to see photos of this new little girl--8 pounders aren't so bad :-) My cousin just had one 10lb 13 oz--now that's definately NOT something to aspire to. Good luck--We're thinking of you guys and praying for you--xoxo nats

You look great! I can't wait for baby-cakes to get here!

And don't be scared.. but at my 34 week appointment Axel was estimated to weigh 8 lbs! With 6 weeks to go I was terrified. With a stress test & ultrasound each week from there on out, each week it was confirmed he was a little giant. 10 lbs 2 ounces later.. good luck girl!
